Dr. Freed grew up in central florida as the eldest of 7 siblings. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Florida where he was part of the prestigious Junior Honors Medical Program. His honors thesis focused on investigating new diagnostic methods for rheumatoid arthritis. He also received his M.D. degree from the University of Florida where he graduated with honors and was selected as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. At graduation he was awarded the John Gorrie Award which is awarded each year to a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine believed to be the “best all-around student showing promise of becoming a practitioner of the highest type.” Dr. Freed currently serves on the house staff at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston where he is also a teaching fellow for Harvard Medical School.
